According to the Article 20 of law, the journalist has the right to:
1) search, request, receive and distribute information;
2) to visit state bodies, organizations of all forms of ownership and to be accepted by their officials in connection with the performance of their official duties, to attend all events held by the body accredited to it, except in cases when the decision was made to hold a closed event;
3) to make recordings, including with the use of audiovisual equipment, film and photography, except in cases prohibited by legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
4) be present on presentation of a certificate of a journalist in the area of natural disasters, at rallies and demonstrations, as well as in other forms of expression of public, group and personal interests and protest;
5) to gain access to documents and materials, with the exception of their fragments containing information constituting state secrets;
6) verify the accuracy of the information received;
7) contact the specialists when checking the received information materials;
8) to distribute the messages and materials prepared by him under his signature, under the conditional name (pseudonym);
9) refuse to publish the material with his signature, if its content after editorial correction contradicts the personal convictions of the journalist;
10) to preserve the secrets of authorship and sources of information, except in cases where these secrets are made public at the request of the court.
